Strong wood and menthol characters bury the fruit at present

The 2013 vintage was balanced overall without the sudden heat waves we saw in the summers of 2011 and 2012

I’m less certain that this will come together though to be clear

wild blueberries and black raspberries with touches of garrigue

Casanova di Neri, Brunello Montalcino Tenuta Nuova Vintage:2001 Strong wood and menthol charactersBright deep red. The youthfully reticent nose hints at flinty red cherry, blueberry, graphite, cedar and pepper. Then flavors similar to the aromas, and a tight acid spine and serious but polished tannins nicely extending and framing the brooding fruit notes and peppery flintiness on the long, deep, complex finish. A truly outstanding Tenuta Nuova Brunello that seems less fruit forward and more shut down than usual but holds exciting promise.
